The Technics DZ1200 CD Turntable

Technics SL-DZ1200 Digital Turntable

The Technics SL-DZ1200 Digital Turntable, the world's first direct-drive digital turntable, looks-and more importantly feels-like spinning wax on a classic 1200. The distinctive slip surface on the 10" platter lets you spin, skratch, break, and otherwise work a track in a number of formats, including CD, MP3, and AAC. Along with its realistic vinyl feel and classic direct drive, the SL-DZ1200 also lets you store, playback, skratch, and loop sampled media from a removable SD memory card. About the size of a postage stamp, these cards store all your favorite samples, songs-even whole albums. And although they won't ever be able to replace vinyl, they're a whole heck of a lot easier to carry around than a crate of records.

The Technics direct-drive system, which incorporates the platter as an actual component of the motor, was introduced with the SP-10 in 1969 as a way to eliminate the drag, inevitable breakage, and slow startup speeds associated with belt-driven players. With the reliable rotation, instant response, and long life you have come to expect from Technics analog models, the SL-DZ1200 boasts the same quartz crystal controlled direct-drive that has been the choice of professional DJs for over 30 years.

It's easy to adjust to the SL-DZ1200. With adjustable break and startup speeds, a 10" platter, vinyl simulation effects and slip surface combined with its familiar look and feel, the SL-DZ1200 sounds and responds just like your analog decks.

The SL-DZ1200 lets you find a cue point, save it and return to it at the touch of a button. 4 self-illuminating cue pads allow you to set, save, and seamlessly cue from exactly the point of your choice. It can memorize 50 sets (more if stored on an SD card) of 10 cue points as individual "albums." Each "album" also stores your settings for the 4 cue pads, loop points, auto cue condition and effects. As soon as your SD memory card or disc is loaded, your pre-saved settings are instantly available.

Sample pads allow for editing, overlapping, and playing back multiple samples. By sampling musical phrases, using the editing function to set the In and Out points, looping and mixing various samples, you can play the SL-DZ1200 like an instrument and use it to create original compositions.

The SD memory card is a removable, reusable device about the size of a postage stamp and is capable of holding hours of media. Using the SZ-CB8 SD Audio Recording Kit1, you can store your samples, scratches, breaks-even whole albums-and play an entire set using just a couple SD memory cards.

The big, easy to read central display lets you know your exact BPM, elapsed time, and remaining time, as well as other track and play data. Adjust the display angle for easy reading in traditional or battle style play.

A heavy, die-cast aluminum body, rugged CD mechanism, and double-spring insulator feet provide exceptional vibration resistance.

Change the tempo of a track without affecting its pitch throughout the DZ-1200's entire (±8-±50) pitch range.

Switch from forward to backward play, and then back again without missing a beat. And you can adjust the precision to suit your needs-use the "Instant Change" button to make the switch instant, or flip it off to drag, stop, and spin-up the track.

Not available on jog dial CD decks, this feature gives you the ability to free wheel or coast like on an analog deck with the push of a button.

Here are some of the features:

With Gas at $4 a gallon (As of May 2008), We need serious leadership

Yes people gas prices in my neck of the urban spotlight is now at $4 a gallon. Yes its starting to hurt a little bit now. But its not supposed to hurt, this is America right? Where you could get most things cheap compared to the rest of the world, thats not the case anymore. As you look around you see the cost of groceries have gone up and I'm sure the price of whatever is moved by these trucking companies, have also gone up because of higher fuel prices in general. And yes this affects you more than you know even if you don't own a car. For example a price for a loaf of a 'store brand' sliced white bread just six months ago was $1.19 (It used to be a dollar 6 months before that) today as of this post its about $1.79, and thats just in 6 months time.

Our low American dollar is another problem, its been creeping even lower without anyone paying much of attention. The new standard is now 1 uk pound = .49 cents US. Its dropped another penny in the last week or so as of this posting. I used to buy stuff online from sources around the world now its gotten way more expensive that I simply have put off buying stuff overseas because of this. I also postponed a possible vacation I was planning on to the United Kingdom.

I'm also thinking the cheap stuff we buy from China, might even go up in price since that terrible earthquake that hit south central China a week ago, many of these Chinese factories have been destroyed from the earthquake and the Chinese govt now says so far $10 Billion US (and sure to go higher) has been lost.

So with $4 a gallon gas and our current administration in the white house not able to do much of anything to help lower the price, it seems we'll be seeing these prices continue up until the next election. The oil companies have gotten a free pass and a free ride to obviously take full advantage while this administration is in office to make its big bucks. They know the show is almost over, and then they'll lower it back down to more normal levels once a serious administration settles into the white house.

It wouldn't suprise me if it went back down to less than $2 a gallon. Providing a serious leader is in the white house. Why? Well we keep hearing its all about supply and demand with China and India slurping up all the oil for their own countries, but no one knows for sure. Theres been no proof of this. Wouldn't you think it would affect them as well since their economies are poorer than ours. And gas prices in the UK haven't gone up in 5 years which tells me well if it isn't affecting some countries why is it affecting us? Add to that the Opec cartels have also stated that theirs alot of oil out there and the market is pretty much saturated as it was 10 years ago, and theres alot of oil still left underground, infact they've even increased their outlook as more oil discoveries are found.

Well I know one thing, I'm seriouly considering getting a bicycle. Not only to save on gas but also to get physical again. I'm even thinking of getting a freestyle bmx bike, one of which I had in the mid to late 80s. I'm thinking either the 2008Mongoose Mischief (mags), or either the 2008 GT Compe or the 2008 GT Performer, the white one, looks pretty Rad! -- bloggerjunkiexl

Grand Theft Auto Trilogy for ps2, This is San Andreas

I just got a copy (my own copy) of the trilogy collection of Grand Theft Auto (GTA), for my old Playstation 2 (ps2) and this is actually the first time I played any GTA game ever. I didn't know what to do , so I posted a youtube video about my experience which I also posted below.

The first game I played was GTA's San Andreas, which looks somewhat like a far distant Los Angeles type game world, but not really, this is not LA.

This is the place you don't want to be in real life, you have racist cops, cops that will beat you up before they arrest you, or shoot you even if you're next to other people. They just don't give a damn. You also have gang members, with some ready to shoot at you just by messing around or looking at them funny. You have prostitutes, pissed off people who fight back. Yes this is the world of Los Santos, San Andreas. Sounds like some bad area of Los Angeles, but its a world created by Rockstar games.

There is a mission that you must carry out, but I've had so much fun just doing my own stuff riding around the city (and county) and messing with the people , then they start shooting at you. I spent a few hours just messing around in this awful city. But I must get serious and get down to business. I'll see what really is the objective of this game and report back, -- bloggerjunkiexl

Check out the Denon dns-1200 table top dj cd player

Denon has a new product out, as of this posting the new Denon DN-S1200.

You can now take total control over your music collections in a more compact table top dj cd player.

Denon’s new DN-S1200 Compact CD/USB Media Player & Controller is a super-compact and sophisticated DJ instrument that lets users bring together and enjoy access to their entire music collection from virtually all-existing storage media, including Apple iPods and USB Flash Drives.

For total flexibility, it features an illuminated Slot-In CD Player, a quick-loading and fast data reading mechanism that offers a variety of audio compact disc support, including CD, CD-R, CD-RW and CD-TEXT. Thanks to its advanced External USB Device Support, users have access to vast portable music collections stored on external USB media and may connect their iPod, Thumb Drive, and large Hard Drives for easy access to small or extensive mp3/wav collections of up to 50,000 files.

You can simply plug these devices into the DN-S1200 to obtain the powerful on-board features such as Instant Start, Seamless Looping, Scratching and easy File Searching. Notably, with its MIDI Interface Controller (PC/MAC), the DN-S1200 is also designed to interface and control a variety of popular DJ programs that supports USB MIDI in/out interface, either by user custom mapping or direct native support by the software vendor.

Users can easily control their favorite DJ software all from a single advanced compact player. For added creative flexibility, two “hot starts” (A1 and A2) can be made on the fly and easily turned into Seamless Loops.

And thanks to its 4 Superb Built-in Effects, building the mood of the dance floor and remixing live has never been easier. DJs can easily activate and have full parameter control with a Dry/Wet mix control of the 4 effects: Flanger, Filter (High-Mid-Low), Echo and Echo/Loop, as well as 3 Platter Effects, including Brake (adjustable in real-time), Dump (reverse sound without losing true forward time, like a radio edit), and Reverse (plays your music backwards).

Mobile Djs can now use SD cards for the MIX

Recently American Audio came out with the SDJ1 , it looks sorta like a djcd player but instead this thing uses SD (secure digital) card for that mix!

The American Audio SDJ-1 is a revolutionary SD card player that will let you carry your music library around on an SD card the size of a postage stamp. No more CDs or vinyl records for that matter to carry round.

The dual MP3 file player features 2 integrated SD slots. Each slot takes an SD card up to 4GB. Don’t let the cards small size fool you, each card can store approximately 800 tracks in an explicit quality (5MB/MP3) file. 1600 tracks will be at your fingertips and with each SD card assignable to either player, or both, you can play all night without the need to change an sd card!

The 2 front loading SD slots make SD card loading really simple. No more will you have to use unreliable USB hubs and USB pen drives that you cannot get to or have stuck out from the front or back panel.

You wont need an advanced engineering degree to use the American Audio SDJ-1 either. Using a USB to SD adapter, you can easily transfer music from your computer to the card. Then just plug the card into the SDJ-1’s built-in SD slot and play all night.

In a fraction of a second, the track information such as Title, Artist, Album etc. (ID-tag) are clearly displayed. Selecting your track could not be simpler; the “Folder-Search-Function” allows the user to search MP3 titles according to categories such as style, alphabetical or genre.

There are many advantages to using SD cards as the medium. SD is fast becoming a standard in the professional audio business. SD cards provide an unbeatable fast reading time, they are inexpensive to buy, totally shockproof (anti shock guaranteed!) and totally maintenance free as they have no moving parts.

There’s no need to change your style of DJing gear while working with the SDJ-1. The SDJ-1 has all the advanced features of modern CD players. You can mix and manipulate tracks the same way you would with a CD or MP3 disc, except for one big difference – you won’t have to carry around any hard drives, laptops, MP3 players or other external devices. . . . just this tiny little card that you can fit between your thumb and forefinger without even breaking into a sweat.

The American Audio SDJ-1 features:
- 2 SD card slots (up to 4GB each)
- Fully viewable MP3 details
- Full playback control similar to most Pro CD players
- Fast, Simple & Reliable
- Great for “Drops”
- Fader “Q” Start
- Advanced cueing with track search by frame
- Bright LCD display
- Single/Continue, Time viewing and MP3 track listings
- Up to 1000 MP3 songs on a 4G SD card* (4GB SD card not included / MP3 recorded at 128 bit rate)*
- ID-3 tag
- Large clear display
- Seamless loop
- Folder Search
- Auto BPM (beat counter)
- Tempo Lock (Master Tempo)
- Fader Start
- Flip-Flop (Relay-Play)
- Real Time Cueing “Cue-on-the-Fly”
- Instant Start (10ms)
- Pitch Bend (+/- 4%, 8%, 16%)
- Search by frame
- Time Function
- Dimensions: 482 x 88 x 108 mm (19” / 2RMS)
- Weight: 1.8 kg

So, if you've got better things to do than carry around crates of cds or vinyl records or even that expensive notebook computer or massive hard drve, you might just want to check out the SDJ1 from American Audio. However as good as this thing might be, you might wait around for the second generation model if that comes out, this thing does not accept SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) cards. And since most 4gb SD cards are now being made the SDHC way , it really won't work with this system. But if you got some older SD cards around and want to get into that mix lightly, this is a good machine to get.

Harry Potter Collection for ps2, Chamber of Secrets game

The Harry Potter Collection for Playstation 2 was released in 2007 with 3 games, they are 'chamber of secrets, goblet of fire and prisoner of azkhaban'. Today I got a copy of the 3 game collection and wondered why HPs 'sorcereor stone' wasn't included. But I was thinking, if they wanted a complete collection why not include it. Maybe there are reasons as to why they did not re-release it, if you know why please leave a comment.

Now this IS the first time I played any Harry Potter game on the Playstation 2 (ps2) game console system. I also currently have in my possesion the Harry Potter PC game collection which does have 'sorcerer stone' included and I made a video on youtube about it.

So lets get to the 'chamber of secrets' game for ps2, one big difference between the ps2 game and the pc version is its completely different! I thought It would've been the same , but its not. I wonder why. So anyway I included a video of the ps2 , you could take a look at it and see its not the same. Maybe it was made differently, one for a keyboard layout and another for a ps2 joystick layout. To me it was easier playing the pc version as the characters were easier to move around, the joystick kinda felt funny and somewhat weird moving him around with a joystick. The graphics believe it or not, was better with the pc version than with the ps2 version. Even the graphics of the 'sorcerer stone' for pc was much better than both the ps1 or ps2 versions.

All in all, I'm still happy with the ps2 version despite this, and plan on opening up the others as soon as I'm finished playing this one. Its a cool collection, I'll also give you the lowdown on the 'Grand theft Auto Trilogy' collection as soon as that arrives in the mail, so get the hp collection for ps2 while it lasts, since the pc version has gone up in price dramatically, I would invest for the cool gaming ( alittle old school but still) and great re-sell potential. Thanks for reading -- bloggerjunkiexl

The Sanyo VPC-E760 might be cheap but it delivers the goods

I recently came across an old brand that these days are more closely assocaited with Sprint than with gadgets or even consumer electronics. Yes Sanyo did make alot of stuff like stereo systems and microwaves in the 80s, and probably continue to do so, but its their new gadgets that's giving Sanyo a comeback in the name brand field.

So was looking for a decent good but cheap digital camera and came across one that had features on more expensive cameras so I bought the Sanyo vpc-e760 digital camera from a well known online store for about $106.00 and even did a youtube video about it, where I unbox the camera. The good thing about this camera is it comes with a lithium ion battery. Yes there are pros and cons with using a lithium ion battery in a digital camera. This is the main reason why I chose the vpc-e760 from Sanyo, instead of one which uses AA or AA rechargeable nimh batteries. The lithium ion battery that it came with lasted for a whole week and even more without needing to be charged, thats the great thing about using lithion ions in a digital camera. They keep their charge for a very long time. The camera also had a 2.5" tft lcd in the back which is about average for a 7.1 megapixel camera these days. Yes this is a 7.1megapixel camera, I know I could of gotten the 8.1 megapixel from Nikon and that even had a 3" lcd screen in the back for just a couple bucks more, but the bad thing about that one was it used AA. Which was a bummer, and it was also thicker since it does use the AA battery.

The Sanyo vpc-e760 is just a bit slimmer not much, and has a wide feature content including movie mode, now how cool is that? Up until now I've been using my flip video camera (or camcorder), the one I got at a well known national drug store for about the same price as the Sanyo and doesn't even come close to the features that come with the vcp-e760. Now I said it had movie mode, it has 2 movie modes a higher quality and a lower quality setting 640x480 and 320x240. Both qualities come out good, and obviously the 640x480 is better. Here is a rundown of some of the features that come with this cool camera:

digital anti blur
7.1 megapixel
3x optical zoom
4x digital zoom
2.5" large lcd
1000 iso
Face detection technology (found in most newer 2008 cameras)
Accepts SDHC cards as well as standard SD (a 4gb sdhc card in 640 mode gives about an hour of HQ video, 2 hours in 320 mode, this camera can use up to 8gb)
32mb memory built in
1/2.5" ccd
and ofcourse many other features including the standard stuff like macro mode, flash, red eye reduction, usb connection, cd software etc.

Vinyl Records are a hot niche item

You see them all over the place, and I don't think vinyl records are going anywhere, and it seems that it could last longer than the compact disc (CD) itself, which seems to be fading away as mp3s and downloadable content replace the CD as CD sales drop considerably.

While its true that more people continue to buy CDs than vinyl records, vinyl records continue to stand the test of time. Its 2008 and as of this post and I just bought Mariah Carey's E=mc2 LP from an online record store on vinyl!!, and I also got 2 different 12" singles from her album , 'Touch my body' (domestic 12") and a 'Touch my body' a 12" UK vinyl picture disc from 2 other online record shops. These I add to my 10 crates of vinyl 12" singles and LP albums.

Vinyl records continue to be a hot niche item and people are buying more turntables to either convert their old vinyl to mp3s or cdrs, or just to casual listen to those yesteryear vibes. Right now, I'm not converting anything to cdr, and just listening to it straight using my Audio Technica AT-PL120 direct drive turntable with a standard AT 3600 stylus. Sounds oh so sweet, nothing better than an analog sound

Why I Eat alot of Sardines and you should too

I went to Kmart the other day and since its the only place I can find Brunswick brand Sardines in olive oil, I grabbed some 10 cans and put it my cart , I went home and the first thing I did was open a can and had my delicious fish finger food, Sardines in olive oil.

Now why would I do such a thing? Well it taste good, yes some brands taste better than others and some taste like its been sitting their for ages. The deal is buying the right brand, and I noticed that brands of sardines that were imported from Canada , Morocco, Spain and Europe taste much better than those imported from Asia.

Sardines and other fatty fish contain Omega 3 fatty acids and one can of Sardines and many fish like red salmon contain lots of it. Yes Sardines and other fatty fish are both delicious and nutricious! Omega 3 fatty acid from fatty fish or in some cases from fish oil, are nutrients that are good for the heart, brain and eyesight. Omega 3 can protect you from sudden death, depression and save you from having macular degeneration or atleast slows the process down a whole lot.

People who ate "good" oily fish one to four times a week reduced their risk of an abnormal heartbeat called atrial fibrillation by nearly a third. Atrial fibrillation (AF) is an abnormal heart rhythm in which the upper two chambers of the heart beat faster than normal. These are found mainly in oily fish , not only sardines but fish such as herring, kippers, mackerel, pilchards, salmon, fresh tuna, trout and anchovies. They are also found in green leafy vegetables. Omega-3 fatty acids are thought to reduce the stickiness of the blood, making it less likely to clot, and prevent the heart from beating irregularly.

I also noticed by eating more fatty fish such as my favorite Sardines, my heart isn't having palpitations as it used to, so that is always a good thing, these palpitations can be life threatening so in the end eat your fatty fish, especially if you eat alot of other things that aren't good for you , this may actually help keep you alive.

Hillary Clinton as the first WOMEN vice president?

Well, is this possible? Well, yes and no

See Hillary Clinton as you know is as desperate as they come when it comes to being the FIRST ever women president of the United States of America. But she may have to sit back and let the other person Mr. Obama , be the first Black Man ever elected to the presidency. But you're probably saying, I love Hillary , Hillary Rodham Clinton is destined to BE the first women president ever, its even written in the stars! Nope, sorry...I don't think the stars have her lined up to be the first women President ever just yet, maybe another 4 or 8 years from now. She'll have to sit back and accept reality, that she will never be the first women president in history (atleast currently).

But you know, they way things are going it would seem unimaginable that Mr. Obama would even consider Ms. Clinton as his running mate come this general election, whenever we get to it, as soon as all the shannanigans are over. She might, decide to be nice to Mr. Obama and start congratulating him on his victory, better now than later. Sure she wants the presidency but, would she ever settle for say being the first women vice president ever? Why not. But let me tell you something first, Hillary Rodham Clinton is not a liberal, she's more of a moderate right wing democrat who wouldn't be caught dead being a vice president for the more liberal Barack Obama. But if she WANTS to make history and have her name in the history books as being the first women VICE PRESIDENT ever, then she may try and be nice to Mr. Obama and get together and try to defeat Mr. Mcain, and she had better hurry because the tsunami of dirt flinging hasn't even started yet, well maybe just a peep from the republican establishment during the North Carolina primary, but nothing like what we are about to expect this summer and fall from the right wing establishment and I do think its going to be real nasty. Hillary Clinton might have to settle for second best, if she wants a peice of the action of the next presidency of Mr. Obama.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not yet an Obama supporter, and I'm not a Hillary supporter. But If I was supporting someone it would be Obama over Hillary or Mccain. But I don't think I will vote for Mr. Obama, but thats for another topic. -- bloggerjunkiexl
