I recently came across an old brand that these days are more closely assocaited with Sprint than with gadgets or even consumer electronics. Yes Sanyo did make alot of stuff like stereo systems and microwaves in the 80s, and probably continue to do so, but its their new gadgets that's giving Sanyo a comeback in the name brand field.
So was looking for a decent good but cheap digital camera and came across one that had features on more expensive cameras so I bought the Sanyo vpc-e760 digital camera from a well known online store for about $106.00 and even did a youtube video about it, where I unbox the camera. The good thing about this camera is it comes with a lithium ion battery. Yes there are pros and cons with using a lithium ion battery in a digital camera. This is the main reason why I chose the vpc-e760 from Sanyo, instead of one which uses AA or AA rechargeable nimh batteries. The lithium ion battery that it came with lasted for a whole week and even more without needing to be charged, thats the great thing about using lithion ions in a digital camera. They keep their charge for a very long time. The camera also had a 2.5" tft lcd in the back which is about average for a 7.1 megapixel camera these days. Yes this is a 7.1megapixel camera, I know I could of gotten the 8.1 megapixel from Nikon and that even had a 3" lcd screen in the back for just a couple bucks more, but the bad thing about that one was it used AA. Which was a bummer, and it was also thicker since it does use the AA battery.
The Sanyo vpc-e760 is just a bit slimmer not much, and has a wide feature content including movie mode, now how cool is that? Up until now I've been using my flip video camera (or camcorder), the one I got at a well known national drug store for about the same price as the Sanyo and doesn't even come close to the features that come with the vcp-e760. Now I said it had movie mode, it has 2 movie modes a higher quality and a lower quality setting 640x480 and 320x240. Both qualities come out good, and obviously the 640x480 is better. Here is a rundown of some of the features that come with this cool camera:
digital anti blur
7.1 megapixel
3x optical zoom
4x digital zoom
2.5" large lcd
1000 iso
Face detection technology (found in most newer 2008 cameras)
Accepts SDHC cards as well as standard SD (a 4gb sdhc card in 640 mode gives about an hour of HQ video, 2 hours in 320 mode, this camera can use up to 8gb)
32mb memory built in
1/2.5" ccd
and ofcourse many other features including the standard stuff like macro mode, flash, red eye reduction, usb connection, cd software etc.
