With Gas at $4 a gallon (As of May 2008), We need serious leadership

Yes people gas prices in my neck of the urban spotlight is now at $4 a gallon. Yes its starting to hurt a little bit now. But its not supposed to hurt, this is America right? Where you could get most things cheap compared to the rest of the world, thats not the case anymore. As you look around you see the cost of groceries have gone up and I'm sure the price of whatever is moved by these trucking companies, have also gone up because of higher fuel prices in general. And yes this affects you more than you know even if you don't own a car. For example a price for a loaf of a 'store brand' sliced white bread just six months ago was $1.19 (It used to be a dollar 6 months before that) today as of this post its about $1.79, and thats just in 6 months time.

Our low American dollar is another problem, its been creeping even lower without anyone paying much of attention. The new standard is now 1 uk pound = .49 cents US. Its dropped another penny in the last week or so as of this posting. I used to buy stuff online from sources around the world now its gotten way more expensive that I simply have put off buying stuff overseas because of this. I also postponed a possible vacation I was planning on to the United Kingdom.

I'm also thinking the cheap stuff we buy from China, might even go up in price since that terrible earthquake that hit south central China a week ago, many of these Chinese factories have been destroyed from the earthquake and the Chinese govt now says so far $10 Billion US (and sure to go higher) has been lost.

So with $4 a gallon gas and our current administration in the white house not able to do much of anything to help lower the price, it seems we'll be seeing these prices continue up until the next election. The oil companies have gotten a free pass and a free ride to obviously take full advantage while this administration is in office to make its big bucks. They know the show is almost over, and then they'll lower it back down to more normal levels once a serious administration settles into the white house.

It wouldn't suprise me if it went back down to less than $2 a gallon. Providing a serious leader is in the white house. Why? Well we keep hearing its all about supply and demand with China and India slurping up all the oil for their own countries, but no one knows for sure. Theres been no proof of this. Wouldn't you think it would affect them as well since their economies are poorer than ours. And gas prices in the UK haven't gone up in 5 years which tells me well if it isn't affecting some countries why is it affecting us? Add to that the Opec cartels have also stated that theirs alot of oil out there and the market is pretty much saturated as it was 10 years ago, and theres alot of oil still left underground, infact they've even increased their outlook as more oil discoveries are found.

Well I know one thing, I'm seriouly considering getting a bicycle. Not only to save on gas but also to get physical again. I'm even thinking of getting a freestyle bmx bike, one of which I had in the mid to late 80s. I'm thinking either the 2008Mongoose Mischief (mags), or either the 2008 GT Compe or the 2008 GT Performer, the white one, looks pretty Rad! -- bloggerjunkiexl
